Narrative
Venture’s Supported Employment Program provides people with developmental disabilities (DD) the support and training needed to experience personal growth and success in the workplace. This model helps people gain independence and self-esteem. Through competitive employment. we encourage them to work within their communities. They can develop new skills to assist them in their careers. People are placed in settings that best suit their interests, preferences, and abilities. Together with their job coach, the person develops and works toward established goals. The Supported Employment Program consists of four steps:
- Assessment – Thoughtful review of iperson’s interests and abilities
- Job Development – Researching potential employment opportunities, analyzing transportation options, and help with job applications and interview preparation
- Job Placement – Evaluation of the job description and assessment of further training
- Job Coaching – Counseling the person about workplace performance, expectations, and social interactions. They may eventually be able to work independently
