Narrative

The South Coastal Family Support Center connects families of children and adults with developmental disabilities (DD) in the Massachusetts South Shore area. We help them find the resources and
opportunities they need to thrive. Advocates believes that the families we support are the best experts on their lives. We work in partnership with each family. We make supports specific to their needs, goals, and wishes.

We host family events, social groups, and recreational activities through the Center. We build a strong, welcoming community. We lso recognize the value of shared experiences, insights, and information. We work to provide a variety of opportunities for families and people to make lasting and meaningful connections with each other.

Programs take place at our Randolph location or at various accessible sites in
the South Shore community and include:
     • Workshops and Trainings
     • Case Management
     • Information & Referral
     • Education
     • Autism Support Group
     • Adult Mentoring Program
     • Family Social Events
     • Social & Recreational Programs

Group Respite in the Community

We offer three-hour respite sessions with fun, enriching activities at various locations in the MetroWest area. Activities and events may include socializing with peers, bowling, mini-golf, cooking groups, spending time at the mall, arts and crafts, attending community events, and more.

In-Home Respite Care

For children and adults who may be better served in the home, our team will work with your family to identify other options for respite, such as in-home or community-based 1:1 respite with one of our skilled respite workers.

Eligibility Criteria

  • People aged eight or older with an intellectual or developmental disability (IDD)
  • Currently does not have respite programming
  • Is in any Advocates program
  • Is able to be safe with themself and others
  • Advance registration and intake required

We connect families of children and adults with developmental disabilities in the Massachusetts South Shore area to the resources and opportunities you need to thrive. Working collaboratively with your family, we offer supports that are tailored to the unique needs, wishes and goals of your loved one and your entire family.

Individuals must first be determined eligible for services by the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) in order to receive support planning and ongoing assistance.
