Narrative
Day Habilitation services are designed to support people with an intellectual or developmental disability (IDD) or an acquired brain injury (ABI). These services provide chances for people to join in social and community activities, address clinical or medical needs. They can increase independence through skill-building and goal-focused activities.
On-site and community-based activities provide members with ways to develop essential skills and reach their goals. Through a rotating schedule of activities, people get personalized support to:
- Enhance communication and sensorimotor skills
- Increase independence in daily living
- Improve self-help and behavioral strategies
- Foster social engagement and emotional well-being
On-site and community-based activities in Day Habilitation focus on developing skills in the following areas:
- Communication – verbal and nonverbal language development
- Social skills – interpersonal, leisure, community membership
- Fine and gross motor development, sensory motor development
- Behavioral and emotional support
- Independent living skills – meal prep, housekeeping, safety, money management
- Activities of daily living (ADLs) – hygiene, dressing, eating
