Narrative
The mission of Outside the Lines is to provide people with developmental disabilities (DD) with the tools and materials to create art. We give them the supports to define themselves as artists.
Outside the Lines works with artists with a range of disabilities. In particular, there are people whose challenging behaviors or health issues make them poor fits with more traditional day services.
OTL is a community based day support program funded by Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS). Our main focus is to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, dual disgnosis, and Autism Spectrum Disorder to enhance opportunities to become fully engaged members of their community. OTL focuses on person centered planning and trauma informed care to create a programatic structure based on peoples’ interests and needs. People we support have opportunities to plan their day to include leisure time, self-directed activities, and group participation.
We are not a program that provides therapeutic services. We have a great understanding and appreciation of the therapeutic benefits of artists and creative opportunities for the people we support.
