Narrative
Individual Support Services
Kennedy-Donovan Center offers customized assistance to people with disabilities in their home and community life based upon the individual’s specific needs. Services range from assistance with transportation, to help with meal preparation, activities of daily living, and bill paying.KDC’s Individual Support Services are funded by the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS).
Shared Living and Adult Family Care
Our Adult Family Care and Shared Living programs place adults with developmental disabilities with host families trained to meet their individual needs.Care giving in your home can be a very rewarding experience. We have care arrangements that have been in place for over twenty years. Caregivers often remark that the person receiving supports is like a member of their own family. In addition to being emotionally rewarding, caregivers are paid a daily stipend, which varies depending on the person’s needs, and receive a room and board payment.People interested in becoming a care provider should contact Joshua McKiernan at jmckiernan@kdc.org to begin the application process.Shared Living and Adult Family Care are funded by the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and Medicaid.
Foster Care
Foster care is the temporary or long term placement of a minor child in a non-relative’s family home. Reasons for placement include medical needs, developmental disabilities, or a history of abuse and neglect.KDC’s Intensive Foster Care Program recruits potential foster care parents and provides them with appropriate training and support to provide specialized care for children and youth with a wide variety of needs.Foster Care is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF).
Family Support and Stabilization
KDC’s Family Support and Stabilization is a comprehensive program providing a moderate level of support to the entire family. Each family is provided with services individualized to meet their needs and reach their goals.KDC’s Family Support and Stabilization program is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF).
Intensive Flexible Family Support provides short term, intensive case management to families of a child/adult with developmental disabilities who are in crisis and at risk of out-of-home placement for their child. This program is offered in the Plymouth and Taunton/Attleboro areas from our New Bedford Community Services office, located in New Bedford.Intensive Flexible Family Supports is funded by the Department of Developmental Services (DDS).
