Narrative

Leander House, Inc. is a private not-for-profit organization founded in 1996. We are licensed and certified by the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) in Massachusetts. Nestled in the heart of the Southern Berkshires in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, we currently have four homes serving adults with intellectual disabilities. Each home is shared by the host family, 2-3 adults with disabilities and 2-3 full-time volunteer interns. We live as family and share life as a family would.

Our day program is individualized to foster and support academic, vocational, social and life skills components, taking into consideration the interests, needs and capacities of each individual. Activities may include part-time work in the greater community, academic and artistic classes, social events, farm work, fitness or therapeutic activities such as massage, therapeutic horseback riding, therapeutic movement or painting.
