Narrative

This program of supports has been designed to enable individuals to enrich their lives and enjoy a full range of community activities by providing opportunities for developing, enhancing, and maintaining competency in personal, social, and community activities. The program has been set up with five core fundamentals that each activity falls into.  The core fundamentals are: Employment/Volunteer, Health & Wellness, Education, Life Skills, and Social Growth.  Options that are given to individuals who participate in CBDS include: career exploration, community integration experiences to support fuller participation in community life, skills development and training, volunteer opportunities with local non-profits, health & fitness classes, socialization experiences, and support to enhance interpersonal skills as well as the pursuit of personal interests and hobbies. The goal for every participant in the program is to obtain employment with local businesses. The CBDS program gives participants the skills needed while preparing and supporting them through the process. Since its inception, the CBDS program has been building relationships in the community. The individuals have become total participants in what the Greater Springfield area has to offer to its residents and visitors.
