Baroco provides Day Habilitation services to adults, age 22 and older, with a primary diagnosis of Intellectual Disability, and secondary diagnosis is visual impairment, seizure disorder,  head injury, language impairment, etc. A physician is required to approve the member’s admission into the Baroco Corporation.  Entrance criteria includes members that do not exhibit serious aggressive behavior which results in serious bodily harm. A member must not have serious contraindication or limitation preventing participation in Day Habilitation programming. The member must be Medicaid eligible or able to access needed resources for funding. The member must be able to be maintained within cited staff to client ratios of the program.

The Baroco Corporation utilizes their Speech Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, and Behavioral Therapist to design behaviorally measurable goals and objectives that each member functionally works on throughout the day at Baroco. Members have the opportunity to volunteer both at the site and in the community. Baroco offers Reverse Community Integration by inviting different groups to present at Baroco (ie: Fire Department) There are four month long Mandatory themes the members and staff participate in throughout the year. These include Human Rights, Safety Awareness, Healthy Lifestyles, and Cultural Awareness.

Ipads and laptops are used as part of client programming. Our consultants assist with designing goals and using these devises for goals and objectives. The use of the Wii system is used in conjunction with our exercise groups.

Baroco’s staff adhere to the hiring criteria set forth in the Mass Health regulations. Each program has a minimum of one LPN and one RN. All sites have staff that speak both English and Spanish. Baroco has hired staff that speak other languages if there is a need. All staff participate in mandatory DDS and Mass Health Trainings. Each site also conducts trainings the management sees fit to better enhance programming.
